Discovery In A Natural Environment
The Discovery Centre at Great Notley Country Park has a wonderfully rich, natural environment for play with unusual landform that begs for exploration
To help meet Essex County Councils, targets to attract visitors, encourage exercise and use of outdoor space, we made full use of this playful landscape, by sensitively locating play equipment around the site. This encourages wider utilisation of the space and creates a sense of discovery.
The range of play experiences offered is extensive including, water play, sand play, high energy swings, challenging rope walks and highly inclusive sensory elements. The play elements are carefully located around the site so that vistors discover them as they explore the site
The park changes throughout the seasons and the long meadow grass and native wildflowers add a special atmosphere to the park in the summer months.
The park also demonstrates the fourth dimension of landscapes i.e. time. The landscape was left to recover in it's way around the added equipment to keep the natural feel of meadowland. Additional landscape features such as tree planting and boulders will be added later in a sensitive fashion
