The centre piece of the playground is a fully rigged, three tiered wooden galleon, hand crafted from oak. Ropes and ladders allow children to explore the decks & discover hidden passages. Pulley systems on board and on the beach, allow children to interact and work in teams in attempting to re-float the beached vessel. Elsewhere, children can beach comb, discover a tree house encampment, and explore a music and movement garden to name but a few.
The playground design was inspired by the rich text of “Peter Pan” by JM Barrie who was also a benefactor of the first playground on this site.
This scheme was designed in conjunction with landscape architects and master planners, Land Use Consultants.
