Madrid Rio, Salon De Pinos & Arganzuela Park

The river Manazares was formally bordered at both sides by a multi lane highway. It was not accesible to the public and hardly even visable. Now the highwa runs in tunnels and a 120 hectre area has become free for a large public park. This was planned in two sections the ‘Salon de Pinos’ and the ‘Arganzuela Park’.

Within the ‘Salon de Pinos’ park eleven individual playgrounds were created.
There is a toddlers playground, a playground for concentrated climbing, one for relaxing one for experiencing speed and many more. An integrated playground for disabled children with a special slide, a swing, a carousel, ramps bridges and platforms was established in the neighbourhood of a school.

All these eleven playgrounds are integrated in the pine trees grove which is typical of the area. The light colored post of the play equipment sticking out against the dark stems of the pine trees around are the eye catchers that guide the way to the play areas.

The Arganzuela Park is the second part of the Madrid Rio project, two large scaled playgrounds and two smaller playgrounds.
One of these playgrounds is a hugh slide hill with different types of slides. Open slides with curves, Tunnel slides and wide slides where 2 or even 3 people can sit next to each other. A large climbing stucture invites children to have a go and try their abilities. In a shady pine tree grove wild boars wait for those who dare to climb them and have a ride. An existing bridge is used as an unusual support for different kinds of swings.
