Who We Are

At Timberplay, we are passionate about children´s play. We recognise the importance of play to children´s development and support agendas that promote the rights and needs of children to play outdoors and fight constraints that act against that.

Commercially, we only get involved in small aspect of children´s play, that of designated outdoor play space, but in this arena we push hard against all the barriers to help deliver the very best play areas for any given situation.

The way we aim to do this is simple; we aim to keep the children´s interests at the forefront of what we do so that the space becomes a successful one for children to play in and for parents to enjoy.

We enjoy using our expertise and working with like minded professionals to create successful play spaces with a special atmosphere that children and parents will enjoy returning to again and again.

Designing Successful Play Spaces

Our most successful play spaces come from working with talented independent designers such as landscape architects or artists who engage with local people using our combined expertise to create a play space that will succeed for both current and changing demographics. We believe that the play spaces that we help design are amongst the best that the country has to offer.

For projects where money for design fees is not available then we offer our own holistic free design service. We use our own in house landscape architects so that the whole space is considered not just the equipment needs. As a free service it has to be second tier to that offered by a fee charging independent designer who can really work with the project, but we believe our design service is the very best of this “second tier” free design approach and put us ahead of rival suppliers of play equipment.

Our Partners Richter Spielgeräte

Our play equipment products are all sourced from our partners Richter Spielgeräte GMBH. This Bavarian company based in the alps between Munich and Salzburg have been making play equipment for over 40 years and are one of Europe´s largest and most respected play equipment manufacturers.

They are also passionate about play and their chairman Julian Richter is a well known speaker on the European circuit. Their key philosophy is to always maximise play value and this can be seen from their huge range of innovative and exciting products.

Richter have an excellent record on safety as well, Julian Richter is a current member and ex chairman of the pan European committee that wrote the EN1176/7 standards for playground safety.

Our Other Services

In addition to our design services described above we offer installation and maintenance services and can also arrange independent inspections and consultation services.

Our Territory and Scope

We cover all parts of Great Britain and deal with all types of commercial play areas from schools & nurseries, doorstep play spaces, parks and destination play areas. We don´t generally deal with domestic play spaces.
