Ideas and Insights
This week, years of designing and collaboration came together to welcome the first young people into this landmark playground at Stockton Waterfront Urban Park. The joyful smiles and screams of ‘this is the best park EVER’ were pure joy to witness.
Children from Bowesfield Primary School and young adults from independent training and social care provider Vision25, put the park through its paces, and we can confirm with a resounding thumbs up, that it was a huge success.
At Timberplay we create playgrounds which facilitate moments of play, from design through to specification and install - the real magic happens when a playground comes alive with children, young people and adults, using it.
One carer from Vision 25 said “It’s amazing to see a park where people who use a wheelchair can play in the same place as those who don’t, they’re all together and it’s wonderful.”
Working in collaboration with Ryder Architecture, consulting with Stockton council and gaining insight from members of the Stockton Parent Carer Forum, has resulted in a park that meets the needs of as many families across the Borough as possible.
Director, Paul Collings reflects:
“We are immensely proud to have been part of the journey from concept through to completion. This playground is a testament to what can be achieved when expertise in playground design sit side by side with genuine collaboration and a shared commitment to inclusive, meaningful play.”
Opening on the 20th June - we feel privileged to have been a part of its inception, design and creation.
